No New Books

Well, November and December have been good selling months as I had hoped.  And although it's nice to be selling the books I already have it's hard for me to not be making a new book.  But I am stumped as to what I want to make next.

I've done Complicated, Intermediate, Simple and Super Simple.  I've done a tiny book.  I've done a book of foxes.  I need a new subject and I haven't quite figured that out.  Think maybe I should just start drawing and use it even if it isn't the freshest, newest idea ever.  Someone has already done a cuss word book.  Maybe I should do a book of negative affirmations.    That would be funny.  I'm awful at hand lettering though.

Maybe I need to do some meditation on this.  Maybe then something will come to me.

SUPER Simple Designs

I just finished a new coloring book that is EXTRA SIMPLE!!!  4 times more simple than Simple Designs.  I drew it with a fat marker and left out all of the detail that I so love to draw.  I did it for people with disabilities or any issue that makes coloring detailed images difficult.  I named it SUPER Simple Designs and it's available on Amazon.  It has 36 one sided pages (as always).

November's Coming!

OH MY!!!  November is coming and I am working hard on coloring pages.  But I feel like I am running in place.  Not finishing them fast enough.  I wanted to be doing something really different this time but I'm back to my same old designs.  There are a few differences.  I drew this last week and put it up to color as a free page on my Facebook Coloring Book page.

It's kinda different than my regular style.  It's inspired by some toss pillows I bought for the couch.

I have been thinking about selling my original artwork from my coloring books for Christmas or maybe ongoing.  Like $19.99 for each signed drawing and $3 shipping no matter how many you buy.  I have hundreds of drawings.  Not sure how I will decide which ones to sell or if I will just let people contact me and suggest the one they want.

As for having nothing to draw, I am drawing again.  I just don't feel I have much of a new direction.  I'm doing some cuter kinds of drawings and EVEN MORE FLOWERS.  Ugh, the fox book was so refreshing to draw that I am having trouble going back to plain doodles.  However the fox book is so specialized that it doesn't sell well.  I do better with general doodles.  Making some child-like landscape scenes.  OH WELL, at least I am drawing again.

I've Got Nothing!

For the first time since I started these coloring books I am not working on a book.  I started out drawing dragons and thought that I wanted to make a dragon book.  After a few failed attempts at drawing one and a couple of mediocre ones finished I think I am scrapping that idea.  Cannot get with making a Christmas book.  So what do I have going on right now.  I've got nothing...  I needed some inspiration so I rearranged the furniture int he living room.  Oddly that seems to be making me feel a bit more positive.  I really want to work on a new book and have it done before November 1.  But right now, I've got nothing.

In Bookstores!

My Aunt Judy Bennett from Kansas sent me a message last night.  She said that she heard one of my books is in a very popular bookstore in Wichita.  The store is called Watermark Books.  From the link it looks as though it is my Simple Designs II that has made it to the store.  That is my multiple personality book.  I've changed the title once and I've changed the cover of the book about 5 times.  Here is what it looks like currently and I don't plan on changing it ever again.

There is this lovely website/blog called Adult Coloring Worldwide.  I am a member of their group on Facebook and really love it.  Great people there.  Anyway, they are featuring my Fox Book on their site.  I think that's pretty cool.

A Few Left

I only have a few more foxes left to draw for my book.  Actually the foxes are done it's the backgrounds that need work.  I cannot believe I just started these Thursday the 17th.  I should be done today or tomorrow!  A full book in less than a week and I am very happy with the quality.  Doesn't look rushed.

Angela Porter's Coloring Books At Target

I went to Target today and in the book section they had a few shelves of coloring books for adults.  I found copies of Angela Porter's Color Me Calm so after checking it out I had to have one.  Bought a copy and a few extra Staedtler pens.  Angela was a big influence on me a few years ago when I met her on a website called paintingsilove.com.

I was doing nothing but watercolors when I started noticing her drawings.  I hadn't been doing any drawings for years.  I started painting regularly in 2011.  Angela was the first to tell me about Zentangles.  And although I do not do them they showed me a whole new way of thinking about my art.  Doodling became my passion.  Now doodling is my job considering my doodles are now coloring books.

I look forward to coloring this book but mostly I am just excited to look at it.  Nice to own some of Angela's art.

Coming Along...BOOK 7!

My new book is all about foxes.  There is a fox on every page along with crazy designs and flowers.  I am trying to think of a title for it and I will probably call it something like Foxes and Flowers.  That is the working title for it.  But actually when I see the foxes they all look like they are on some sort of acid trip.  Designs are swirling around their heads and all around them.  I'd love to title it Tripping Foxes but that probably wouldn't appeal to the colorists.  I guess I could call it Psychedelic Foxes.

Whatever I name it, I really like it and it's been fun drawing animals for a change.  Have about 27 pages finished so I just need 9 more.

Light Box!

I bought myself a light box for around $60 on Amazon.  They sent it SAME DAY FREE SHIPPING!!!  I ordered it at 10 am and received it at 5 pm.  I LOVE Amazon Prime.  I have done 5 fox drawings and scanned them into the computer.  I have 2 more that still need to be scanned.  That's 7 drawings within 24 hours and I think that they are good and not just slopped on.

There are a lot of flowers and stuff like that in these drawings so I'm thinking I will name the book Foxes and Flowers.

It's really strange drawing animals for a change but I'm loving it.  Hope I get a good reaction out of them.

Foxes

Well I have been exploring my fox coloring book idea.  I am not very good at drawing foxes I have found out.  So this may not happen.  Tried some realistic foxes and hated them.  Came up with some cartoon ones and like them.

Inktense Colored Pencils by Derwent

My first impression...I just got Inktense colored pencils by Derwent.  You use them with water and they are kind of like a cross between colored pencils and markers.  They glide on smooth as silk but have to be dipped in water constantly.  I dip them more than I do my watercolor brush.  Maybe I am doing them wrong but without the water they are hard to push around the paper.  Also I am having trouble keeping control of them.  Making a bit of a mess.  I will have to work with them some more.

6 Books Published - Now What?

WOW!  I have published 6 books since April 30th.  I've done a variety of types of books.  I just finished book 6 last week.  Now I am not sure what project to take on next.
